We were up in the great white north also known as Alberta. This is the third time some of us have been there and the first time Neutral Sans Frontieres showed its behind the scenes face to the world.
What is NSF? It's a collaboration of people who have been working for and providing service to races, teams and events for the last 17 or so years. If you wanted to add up the experience we'd have to bust out a calculator.
Providing event support isn't necessarily difficult, organizing the logistics, people and equipment are the real challenges especially when it's in another country. Yes, sure we get it. Canada is connected, however it's far and it's not easy to just take a bunch of equipment there. PAPERWORK and PLANNING are the key.
Check out this video of Brian St. Amant knocking out a wheel change before the H&R Block team car even arrives to the scene...
Also check out this photo gallery from the week. Big thanks to the crew, Brian St. Amant, Hector Castillo, Zack Folley and James Stanfill for getting it all done in Canada!
Our supplier partner Double Good is bringing some amazing things to market in the US. Just this week they released a limited supply of the Hirame pump head. This is a functional work of art. Handmade in Japan and hard to find in the USA.
We're hoping to have a few of these available for discerning customers and for general use within the shop.
We want to be in South Austin and we want to be somewhere accessible easily by car, bike or bus. We've found the perfect place and can't wait to share it with you!
We should be open by January and hope you'll stop in!
Having working in the cycling industry for most of my life... even as a teenager. Having raced my bicycle around the world. Having worked at bicycle races and events in somewhere around 23 countries (you loose count).
It's been a looming idea. To open a business that served a purpose, not just to fill space and be part of the minutiae. Austin Service Course is the cumulation of ideas, thought, function and purpose.
We're service forward. Our prices don't reflect that of a retail environment with huge overhead. We're multifaceted. We've created a co-share space. Service as an office for the Professional Bicycle Mechanics Association, a retail fulfillment center for Tallerico Cycles and the distribution point for Double Good products. We've got some more ideas in the pipes and hope to announce and launch those in due time.
